The film is the story of Rajeevan, an advocate and Nandita Menon, a writer. Rajeevan is married to Rekha, a bank employee, and has two kids. Jeevanandhan "Jeeva" (Vijay) is a very rich young man. Although his parents (Sivakumar and Srividhya) want him to settle down, he goes to another city to do his MBA and stays with friends. It's Rocking - Dard-E-Disco is the story of two fun-loving brothers. Years later, while they still hope that their son would return, Sunderdas, a local gangster learns of their misery and decides to mint money out of the situation.
