Vishnu (Mammootty)is a rich businessman, happily married to innocent Seetha (Saritha). Vishnu is a flirt and always interested in having affairs with multiple partners. However, most of his plans did always become unsuccessful. He pretends to love Ragini(Shyama) and assures her to marry her. But his intentions are different. He starts having affair with a young and beautiful Revathi (Lizy Priyadarshan). He also gets infatuated by the newly appointed steno Rose Mary (Urvashi) at his office. But every time, he fails to reach his target. He is so lascivious and a womanizer who even gets attracted to a teenage girl (Suma Jayaram). The situation gets worsened after he joins a team with Thomas Chacko (Thilakan) and Murali. Murali introduces Vishnu to a new girl Indhu (Maathu) who is an orphan. Indu is childlike and innocent and she blindly believes Murali. She went off with Vishnu to his house. Vishnu, eagerly waiting for a sexual intercourse, gets distracted and disappointed by Indhu's genuine nature. The Climax is reached when Vishnu's mother (Sukumari), Malathi and her father arrive at Vishnu's bungalow. Vishnu manages to make his family believe that Indhu is his illegitimate daughter. But he had to face the dangerous consequences that awaited him. Vishnu's family accepted Indhu as his daughter and took her to the ancestral home. Vishnu is completely bewildered and disappointed as he needs to return Indhu to Murali. Vishnu changes his mind and determines not to give Indhu back to them. Shikha, a college student, is admitted to the renowned Students Health Home (SHH) in Kolkata following recurring bouts of illness. There, she meets Deep, a troubled high-schooler who was injured in a bomb blast and hails from a dysfunctional family. Bandit, played by Udaykumar kidnaps the pregnant wife of City Cop, K S Ashwath. Cop's wife delivers a baby boy under the Bandit's custody. However, Bandit's wife conceives a baby girl, hands it over to Ashwath. Before dying, she urges Ashwath to bring her daughter, away from her father. Bandit instills in the little boy, that he is Bandit's son and his own mother is his maternal aunt. Cop's son is brought up to be a Bandit, much against his will. Bandit's daughter, though has a chaste upbringing, is always in awe of robbers and thieves, admiring them for their dare-devilry. Due to his first robbery, Son meets his biological father in a fare and has an unexplained attraction towards him. He has to rob jewels from Cop's daughter Jayanthi, but he hesitates to do it. Jayanthi herself offers all the jewels and plays coy, before her father. As the movie proceeds, son, increasingly known as Bettada Kalla is pitted against the father and only one can survive. The basic injustice at the core of Gangvaa is the way the landed classes take advantage of ordinary village folk. Early on in the film, a work crew finds a pot full of gold coins, and a suitably mustache-twirling zamindar (Amrish Puri) confiscates them to add to his already massive wealth. Enter Gangvaa (Rajnikanth) to save the day; Gangvaa kills Zamindar and his goons. Gangvaa puts together a band of the men who had suffered under the Zamindar's tyranny. Together they hang out in the wilderness and perform Robin-Hood-esque raids for the sake of vigilante justice. At some point Jamna (Shabana Azmi) encounters Gangvaa and is smitten. Then a village girl accuses Gangvaa of rape, and Jamna is enraged it is here that she gets down to find the truth. It turns out that the rape was actually done by a totally different guy named Gangvaa (Raza Murad), and righting this wrong wins Jamna back for our hero, but makes him a new set of enemies that he spends the rest of the film fleeing from. Seeing the circumstances, Kartar Singh decides to get his grandson married to an Indian Punjabi girl (Rakhi Vohra), thinking that a girl from India will show him the path to living life as an Indian. The grandson starts handling the family business with sincerity and does well. But his wife from Punjab shakes him up in terms of his preference for western culture.
