Three young bachelors Pandiyan (Pandiyan), Anand (Anand Babu) and Babu (Babu) are friends and room-mates in an apartment. One day, Pandiyan warns his friends that a parcel will arrive during his absence. The next day, Anand and Babu find a baby (Baby Radha) before their door. The three bachelors swear that they are not her father. Since then, their lives are completely changed. First, they try to abandon the baby but then they take care of the baby and name her Thayamma. It's the story of a fastidious king Balbir Singh (Ashok Kumar) of Himmatpur whose stern, high handed behaviour leads to a breakdown in communication with his four children; eldest daughter Hemalata (Nanda), younger daughter Ashalata (Tanuja) and sons Pratap (Rohit Kumar) and Rajendra (Deven Verma).
