Yogendra (Mohan Babu) is the son of Panduranga Rao (Vijayakumar), a High Court judge who got first rank in civil services examinations. Dunnapothula Janardhan Rao (Narra Venkateswara Rao), a politician, falsely implicates Yogi in a murder case to take revenge on Panduranga, who had earlier given a jail sentence to him in a corruption case. Panduranga gives the judgment to his Yogi by jailing him for six years. After six years, Janardhan dies on the day Yogi is released from jail. Dunnapothula Dharma Rao (Mukesh Rishi), Janardhan's son, visits the shores of Godavari River to leave the ashes. Yogi foils the rites by resisting, then Dharma challenges Yogi that he is going to mix his father's ashes in the Godavari before Yogi mixes the ashes of his father, who is still alive, one day. Meanwhile, Yogi falls in love with a beautiful girl Anuradha (Preeti Jhangiani), the strong-willed and independent-minded daughter of Kasi Visweswara Rao (Raghunatha Reddy), Dharma's henchman. Suddenly, there is an appearance of Thulasi (Seema), who claims to be Panduranga's daughter. Panduranga refuses the claim and banishes her. Forced by circumstances and at the instigation and help of Dharma, she comes out open with the parentage claim. Yogi thrashes the protesters, but upon knowing the truth from his uncle Gnaneswara Rao (Kota Srinivasa Rao), he accepts the task of her protection in the capacity as an elder brother. Yogi decides to marry Thulasi to his good friend (Brahmaji), and he also prods his father to acknowledge the parentage of Thulasi. Panduranga confesses to Thulasi. The next morning when Yogi returns home, Thulasi is found dead. Panduranga is accused of murdering her. However, the whole act was planned by Dharma. After killing Thulasi, he forced Satya Murthy (Suthi Velu), Panduranga's servant, to testify against Panduranga in court. In court, Jagan (Nagarjuna Akkineni), a close friend of Yogi and famous leading criminal lawyer, appears as the defense council by canceling his marriage with his girlfriend (Soundarya) and wins the case to lay bare the murder plot and hidden intentions of the baddies. Finally, Panduranga is judged innocent of the crime. After that, Yogi returns to his father, who shows remorse for all his actions, including not believing in his son's innocence, and he dies at his feet. At Panduranga s funeral, Dharma arrives to poke fun at Yogi and carry out the postponed last rituals of his own father. The film is set in a slum in Ernakulam and focusses on a group of slum dwellers who are usually ignored in the ambitious blueprints of city developers. The protagonist of the film, Chakrapani (Sreenivasan), is a disabled beggar and also a small-time moneylender who lives in the slum. A drunkard, he spends most of the time quarrelling with his mother. He has an eye on Latha (Geethu Mohandas) who lives nearby with her two children, Siva and Malli, though she detests him. Latha, an asthmatic, works as a maid and dreams of a better future for her children. Another woman Vasanthi (Seema G. Nair) too lives in the slum with her two children and a drunkard of a husband (Manikandan) who is of no use to anybody and who keeps causing endless trouble to her and her children. Finally, desperation forces Chakrapani and Latha to unite and raise their voice in protest again the ignorance towards their slum. Chakrapani ends up as their leader. The story reaches its climax when the government takes steps to get rid of the slum in order to go on with developmental activities and the slum-dwellers find that they have nowhere to go. A JCB arrives on the scene and the local people protest as a union with Chakrapani in the forefront. But their pleas fall on deaf ears. more»

Harikrishnan (Mohanlal) is an immigrant in Mumbai, who like many thousands of immigrants is busy struggling to make ends meet. He shares a room with a group of Malayali guys, who have their own personal problems and difficulties. The film begins with Harikrishnan witnessing the murder of a journalist, and being asked by police to appear at an identification parade, which he does. Hari and his friends stay at a room in Kamathipura, which also homes the largest red lighted area in India. He accidentally meets Kiran (Geetha), a Telugu girl in the brothel, for whom he develops feelings. In a short attempt to make money, Hari and friends start making local hooch, which is supplied by Manikandan (Jagadish), their friend, who is also a taxi driver. One of the friends, Shekhar (Shankar), falls in love with the sister of Mani, without the knowledge of anyone else.On a fine morning, Mudaliar, the Tamilian don, who was ruling the street is shot dead by Abbas Ali (Rami Reddy), his own henchman, who has shifted his loyalty to Amar Bakia (Mahesh Anand), another cold blooded don. With the death of Mudaliar, Amar Bakia becomes the undisputed don of the city, and Abbas Ali, his lieutenant. Abbas, after coming to know about the small scale smuggling activities of Hari and gang, threatens him and asks him to come and meet him on the day of Vinayak Chathurthi and pay him a large amount as fine. In midst of the celebration, Hari enters the house of Abbas Ali and shoots him down, inviting the enmity of Amar Bakhia. Chottu (Cochin Haneefa), a local goon belonging to Bakhia gang, attacks Hari and beats him up mercilessly. He is saved by the lady owner of a brothel and she along with Kiran takes care of him. With this incident Hari becomes the local leader and within a short span Chottu and others join his gang. Hari, thus becomes Hari Anna, who also becomes a negotiator in land disputes, financial matters and local business stiffs. Amar Bakhia is now in serious efforts to end the gang of Hari, but Hari on the other hand is getting stronger day by day. Shekhar, now gets a job at a Marwari business group and ditches the sister of Mani. She, who is pregnant by then, commits suicide. Mani, shocked by this incident, is unaware of Shekar's involvement with his sister and indirect cause of her suicide. Hari decides to marry Kiran and with the help of his friends plan to start up a new life outside Mumbai. Amar Bakhia orchestrates attacks on Hari and his gang, leaving many of Hari's friends dead. Hari plots revenge and executes those responsible including Amar, and prepares to escape with Kiran. Meanwhile, Mani gets a letter written by his sister to Hari, which makes him believe that it's Hari who is responsible for the death of his sister. Mani informs police about Hari's plan to leave Mumbai by the night. While parting, Hari informs Mani about Shekhar and expresses regret for not being able to save her. On realizing the truth, Mani reveals the ambush plans and asks Hari to escape before police reaches the spot. But it is too late by then, as police surround him and shoot him down. more»
