                    London-based Jai Vardhan Singh and Meera Pandit meet, fall in love, and she introduces him to her family.                     Raja (Daebu Banerji) an orphan and Kajol (Nivedita Tiwari) from a rich family background are students at Dudley College in Mumbai. The college is heading towards the summer break and the Principal, Mr. Bhatia (Jalees Sherwani), announces the popular annual dancing and singing competition by selecting male and female students through a number matching system. Incidentally, Raja and Kajol's numbers are paired for the performance but Kajol hesitates. Raja decides not to participate after Kajol's hesitation, but Kajol's sophisticated father, Ranveer Singh (Shaheed Khan), who also participated during his college days is hyped up about Kajol winning the traditional college gold medal. Raja hadn't been to college for days, leaving very little time for preparation. Kajol gets anxious to make her father happy and finally skips class to find Raja, who is helping his father (Moti Seth) in his restaurant. She manages to find him, convince him and they go on to win the competition. Post the competition, as college breaks for holidays, Raja and Kajol begin to realise the emptiness in each other's life. Separation makes their heart fonder. What do their destinies have in store for them?

                    G. Krishnamoorthy, aka G. K. (Mammootty), is a cartoonist and investigative journalist working in New Delhi. G. K. falls in love with New Delhi dancer Maria Fernandes (Sumalatha). C. R. Panikkar (Jagannatha Varma) and Shankar (Devan), two political icons, book a show with Maria on the eve of Republic Day and brutally rape her on the occasion.
